Labor Dispute Conciliation

The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training (β€œMLVT”) has issued an Instruction No. 154 on Labor Dispute Conciliation dated 1 November 2024 (β€œInstruction 154”). The Instruction 154 is to improve labor dispute resolution processes, citing that past efforts have not fully met parties’ expectations.

Key Points:

  • If a labor dispute remains unresolved after initial conciliation by a Labor Inspector or appointed conciliator, parties may request further reconciliation from the Minister of Labor and Vocational Training within 2 (two) working days.
  • The Minister of the MLVT may appoint or replace a conciliator to continue the process according to labor law procedures.
  • If the reconciliation fails, additional requests are not permitted, and parties must proceed with other legal procedures for dispute resolution.

These measures aim to streamline and enhance the effectiveness of labor dispute settlements.
